30 students from The Ecco Club at Ashfold School aged between 8 and 13 took part in a workshop led by Master Trainer Lucie Mann with support from Fran O’Flanagan.
Students responded well to the presentation and made valuable contributions to the discussions.
They were keen to get making and had brought plastics from home ready to chop.
We started our bricks before lunch, each child was able to set a colour for the base of their brick.
The chopping and packing continued into the afternoon with much enthusiasm. Lucie and Fran were on hand to guide the students with their technique and help with preparing the plastic.
After lots of weighing, completed Ecobricks began to emerge and by the time we had to finish, 11 completed Ecobricks were logged ( and are now authenticated), the children took home the remaining bricks to complete.
Unfortunately we were unable to create a module as the school maintenance department had ordered caulk instead of silicone but we watched several videos on how and what to build and this will be the next step for the group
